Project in numbers
Project Overview
In November 2025, Daisy’s Garden Supplies played a critical role in the development of Victoria’s regional sporting infrastructure. Our customer, BildGroup’s TurfOne division, embarked on an ambitious project on behalf of Development Victoria and the Victorian Government to construct a premier athletics precinct in Ballarat.
The centerpiece of this world-class facility required a foundation built for performance and durability. To meet these high standards, Daisy’s was tasked with the large-scale supply and logistics of specialized Turf Sand, sourced directly from our dedicated sand quarry in Colac.
Challenges
A project of this magnitude demanded both volume and logistical precision. The specifications required:
- Large Volumes: 3,008 tonnes of high-quality Turf Sand.
- Tight Timeline: Delivery was concentrated to 3 days to avoid disruptions to other contractors working on the project and ensure the project could be completed on time.
- Specifications: Daisy’s had to ensure that the sand met the SPORTENG specifications required for professional-grade athletics, with an emphasis placed on the moisture retention curve.
Solutions
The experience team at Daisy’s Garden Supplies were well equipped to handle the challenges:
- Delivery Requirements Despite the logistical complexities of moving over 3,000 tonnes in three days, our focus on timely delivery runs and site-specific coordination allowed the project to progress without delay. This successful collaboration highlights Daisy’s ability to support major government infrastructure and deliver the foundational materials that power Victoria’s sporting future.
- Product Specifications: Daisy’s Regional Manager – Regional Victoria, Ryan Dunoon, worked closely with TurfOne to provide a product that met the specifications of the project, testing the materials throughout the delivery timeline to certify that consistent results were being achieved and provided to them.
Outcome
Daisy’s collaboration with BildGroup’s TurfOne on this precinct is a testament to our team’s ability to manage large-scale logistics for Victoria’s most significant sporting infrastructure. From the initial extraction at our Colac sand quarry to the final delivery of 3,008 tonnes in Ballarat, our team worked hand in hand with our customer to ensure the site received Turf Sand that met the specifications required for an athletics field.
By overseeing the supply chain from the ground up, we provided the reliability needed for a project of this scale on behalf of Development Victoria and the Victorian Government. Whether it is a specialized planting medium or a high-volume sand delivery, Daisy’s remains dedicated to ensuring your project runs smoothly from the first load to the last.
