Tree Mulch is produced from tree lopping and tree pruning, supplied in a 50L bag. It is a natural, recycled garden mulch and, because it comes straight from tree work, it is a non-uniform product that can vary in appearance, texture, and colour from load to load. What stays consistent are the benefits it brings to the garden: it helps suppress weed growth by blocking light to the soil, retains soil moisture by reducing evaporation, and regulates soil temperature fluctuations to optimise plant growth. As it breaks down it increases soil organic matter over time and enhances overall soil health. It is a cost-effective choice for covering garden beds and larger areas where a natural, rustic look is welcome. Because it is a variable by-product, this mulch may not be suitable for all gardens, so check with your store before ordering. Mulch is generally laid 50 to 100mm thick.   1. Prepare the area: Clear existing weeds and debris. Lay a weed mat first for maximum suppression.
  2. Apply at the right depth: Spread to 50–100 mm. Too thin and weeds can break through; too thick restricts water penetration.
  3. Keep clear of plant stems: Leave a 50 mm gap between mulch and plant stems or tree trunks to prevent moisture buildup.
  4. Water it in. Give the area a good drink after mulching to settle the layer and start pushing moisture down to the roots.


  • Natural Variation: Tree Mulch will vary from load to load and over time, as it's a direct by-product of tree lopping and pruning rather than a graded, uniform mulch.
  • Keeping it Looking Fresh: A light rake or turn each season lifts the surface layer and brings the richer underlying colour back to the top.
  • Topping Up: As with any organic mulch, a top-up as it breaks down keeps beds looking full; exact appearance after topping up may differ slightly from the original load.
  • Even Coverage: Topping up thin or patchy spots as needed helps keep the bed looking consistent and full.
